Hello. My name is Art Donovan and it is my singular honor to have been asked to curate (and lecture) at the world premiere exhibition of Steampunk art for The Museum of the History of Science at the University of Oxford. This historic building housed the oldest museum in the western world and it is eminently appropriate that Victorian-Inspired Steampunk art would have it's first bona fide opening at this prestigious location.

The Artist's Official Exhibition Journal is currently available for purchase.

Since it could be argued that Steampunk is one of the first art movements to be generated entirely on the internet, we thought it quite appropriate to use a digital format for the Journal. Instead of a paper-printed brochure, the artist's journal is available as a CD-R. Quite lovely in fact, as a Gold CD-R in a matte black envelope
. This is a Signed Series in a Very Limited Edition. The Journals are available on-line here or at the Museum.

*93 full color pages with each artist's own page designed personally by them. Here, you can glean the unique personalities and great diversity of each artist along with their personal statements, philosophies and observations of art and Steampunk.

* Live Web Links to each artist's personal website.

* Articles and essays by G.D. Falksen and Jeff VanderMeer. Also live web links to their sites.

* Live web links some of the artist's personal videos.

* Live web links to the wonderfully enlightening publications on the history of science by the Museum Director, Dr. Jim Bennett.

* Live web links to the very best, most entertaining and informative Steampunk websites- Many of which defined this very genre on the web.

The CD-R Journals are signed by Art Donovan, Exhibition Curator

If you are new to Steampunk or have been involved in the genre up to your goggles, this journal is a wonderful thing to have.

Thank you and Cheers! Art Donovan, Curator.

The Steampunk Art Exhibition is now up and running!
The amazing Opening Day on Tuesday, October 13th
saw many of the exhibition artists and their siginificant others and associates present- right there at the Museum of the History of Science at Oxford: Jos and Hannie De Vink from the Netherlands, Eric and Sarah Freitas from the US, Stephane Halleux from Belgium, Vianney Halter from Switzerland accompanied by Phillpe Mariez and Bertrand, James Richardson Brown and Azzy (UK), Ian "Herr Doktor" Crichton and Lady Jane (UK), Thomas D. Willeford (US) and Amanda Scrivener from the UK. Full regalia was certainly the order of the day. Ah... and would that all of the other wonderful artists been able to attend. Next time, I'm quite sure!

I promise you that the art in this show is nothing like you have ever seen. The Opening Day of the show and the Steampunk Lecture on Tuesday evening had enjoyed a full-capacity crowd in attendance at the Museum.Late reports tell us that the attendance on weekends since the opening has actually been over capacity.

Dr. Bennett and his Museum Staff have presented an exhibition that is truly unique, culturally significant and absolutely unrivaled. Location: Broad Street, Oxford. The exhibition is running continuously until February 21, 2010 and the Museum has planned many related Steampunk activities throughout the coming coming months.
